Suzanne has been with ESR since 2019, coming to the role with a background in education, policy, history and biochemistry. She is interested in the role of science in society, especially exploring the social, cultural and ethical impacts of new technologies. Her passion is for systems change to achieve improved equity in all areas of society, with a particular focus on gender equity, As this passion indicates, Suzanne is an aspirational thinker and has a generalist subject focus – she takes the position that there are so many interesting things to investigate in this world, why limit yourself to only one or two subjects?

    Current projects include:

    • Oxford Nanopore Technology sequencing implementation
    • Contemporary justice issues for wāhine Māori 1990-2020
    • ESR Social Systems team history
    • Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy
