Rebekah Gray

Rebekah originates from the deep south, growing up around the Te Anau / Fiordland area before heading off to Otago University. She has completed a degree in Microbiology and then worked in tourism before completing a secondary school teaching degree. Rebekah has taught Biology, Chemistry, Information and Communications Technology and Mathematics for about 13 years in both the secondary and the tertiary sector.
In 2009 she moved to Wellington and spent time teaching at Whitireia Community Polytechnic in the Foundation Studies area, preparing students for entry into the degrees of Nursing and Paramedicine. During her time at Whitireia, she studied the Diploma in Public Health through Otago University, Wellington.
In 2018, she changed careers entirely and began working for the Health Intelligence Team at ESR analysing and publishing data on various notifiable diseases around New Zealand. Recently, she joined the SHIVERS team and has been working on participant engagement and data management in the SHIVERS-II project.
In WellKiwis, Rebekah will be on the team interviewing the participants and will be responsible for the day-to-day management and anlaysis of the data and the database.
Outside of ESR, Rebekah has volunteered with the organisation Sands (www.sands.org.nz(external link)) in the Wellington and Hutt Valley and has one living son and multiple pets with her partner. She enjoys reading, fresh air and sunshine.
