Mat Walton is the Science Leader of the Social Systems team. Mat completed a PhD exploring the use of complexity theory within policy analysis and development at the University of Otago.

Research
After several years working as a policy analyst in local and central government, Mat completed a PhD exploring the use of complexity theory within policy analysis and development. Since then Mat has worked on a number of projects that focused on application of systems thinking and complexity theory. The Social Systems Team at ESR is a great fit, providing opportunities to continue exploring the use of systems approaches across a range of projects.
