Overview
ESR undertakes STI surveillance on behalf of the Ministry of Health. A number of different surveillance systems are currently in place including:
- Clinical notifications of gonorrhoea and syphilis
- laboratory-based surveillance of chlamydia and gonorrhoea
- clinic-based surveillance of genital warts and lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV).
Surveillance for AIDS and HIV is undertaken by the AIDS Epidemiology Group which is based in the University of Otago.
STI surveillance reporting is quarterly and annually by dashboard, and annual supplementary written reports, both are available on this page.
View how to report cases to ESR on our about public health surveillance page.
Dashboards
Dashboards are best viewed in a Chrome browser. Below is the Quarterly dashboard for 2019 and later, and click the links to view annual dashboards.
