Samples that can be analysed include shellfish, sewage, biosolids and environmental waters. ESR can provide advice on noroviruses and other enteric viruses, recovery and quantiation methods, use of viruses for faecal source tracking, identification of viruses from environmental and food samples, effectiveness of virucidals and advice on general environmental and food virology topics.
Tests offered include:
- Detection of enteric viruses from shellfish, water, sewage, sludge/biosolids, environmental swabs, soft fruits and salad greens
- Detection of enteric viruses including norovirus, adenovirus, hepatitis A virus, hepatitis E virus, enterovirus, sapovirus, astrovirus, rotavirus, human polyomavirus with quantitative PCR assays
- F-RNA bacteriophage genotyping
- Detection and quantitation of culturable (infectious) enteroviruses and adenoviruses with cell culture-based assays
ESR provides other virological services including norovirus and rotavirus molecular epidemiology. Please contact us for more information. Email - joanne.hewitt@esr.cri.nz
